Roy Lee Aldridge Jr PT EdD, Professor of Physical Therapy, is the head of the hippotherapy program at Arkansas State University. Dr. Aldridge became involved with hippotherapy while working with a graduate student who had an interest in the area in 2002.The program at ASU began in 2002 at a private facility and has been at the Gary Meadows Equine Center on the campus of Arkansas State University since 2005. Dr. Aldridge has collected data on a variety of patients with neurological and orthopedic conditions since the hippotherapy program began at Arkansas State University. A new indoor facility has recently been renovated to accommodate the program during poor weather conditions. Dr. Aldridge has numerous international and national presentations as well as publications in the area of hippotherapy. Dr. Aldridge has recieved over $250,000.00 in research grant monies in the area of hippotherapy. Dr. Aldridge has over twenty five years of clinical experience in physical therapy. Dr. Aldridge currently serves the board as the Standards and Practice Chair.
