Virtual Networking Event Spotlight:

AHA Inc’s networking events have been an exciting new way for the organization to connect with members from all around the world, during a time when connection and community are so important.

AHA Inc. offered its first virtual member networking event on April 13th, 2020.  The topic of our first meeting was Telehealth.

The event was led by Tina M. Rocco M.A. CCC-SLP, HPCS, Lauren Janusz, MOT, OTR/L, HPCS and Dr. Cassandra Sanders-Holly PT, DPT, PCS, HPCS.  Each of them shared their experiences as practice owners with the transition to telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Each shared some challenges they have faced as well as what has worked well for their practices.

Numerous resources, tips and tricks, and ideas were shared among the participants.  A number of topics were discussed including various telehealth platforms, coding and billing, marketing, setting clients up for success with the transition to virtual services, ways to involve horses in telehealth sessions, ethical issues regarding patient abandonment, importance of “leading with the therapy” and more.  Members reported that they enjoyed the networking event and found the information to be helpful for them in their practices as they began to explore and use teletherapy.

While COVID-19 was the reason that virtual networking events began, this new way to bring people together and support members on a variety of topics may be something that AHA Inc. utilizes well into the future.
